01Who we are
Dream Drive is operated by Dream Drive Lab Private Limited (“Dream Drive”, “we”, “us”), an entity registered in India. Our registered address and grievance officer details appear in Section 11.
This policy covers the Dream Drive mobile application (Android & iOS), the website at dreamdrivelabs.com/, and any WhatsApp-based reminders or notifications you opt into.
02What we collect
Information you give us
- Account: first name, email address, phone number (if you opt into WhatsApp), and an encrypted password.
- Dream profile: the career/goal you set, target year, and the pledge text you write on your Dream Card.
- Reflections & journal entries: mood tags and any free-text notes you log.
- Future message: if you record one, the audio file is stored encrypted on your account.
- Support messages: anything you email, WhatsApp, or submit via our contact form.
Information collected automatically
- Device info: device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, and a randomly generated install ID.
- Usage events: which screens you opened, which features you used, which affirmations you kept vs edited. We do not record what you type except where you explicitly save it.
- Crash logs: anonymous stack traces sent to our error-reporting service when the app crashes.
03Why we collect it
| Purpose | Legal basis | Data used |
|---|---|---|
| Create and secure your account | Contract | Name, email, phone, password |
| Deliver the core experience (Dream Card, affirmations, journal) | Contract | Dream profile, reflections |
| Send WhatsApp/push reminders you opted into | Consent | Phone, goal, reminder preferences |
| Improve the product, fix crashes | Legitimate interest | Device info, usage events, crash logs |
| Comply with law | Legal obligation | As required |
04WhatsApp & Meta
Dream Drive uses the WhatsApp Business API (provided by Meta Platforms) to send you daily affirmations, dream-card reminders, and future-message nudges — but only if you explicitly opt in during onboarding or in Settings → Reminders → WhatsApp.
What gets sent to Meta
- Your phone number (in E.164 format).
- The message template content we send you (affirmation text, reminder copy).
- Delivery and read-receipt metadata returned by WhatsApp.
How Meta handles it
Meta processes this data as a service provider under its WhatsApp Business Policy and Privacy Policy. We do not share your journal entries, dream details, or app usage with Meta — only the phone number and the message we’re sending you.
How to stop WhatsApp messages
- Reply STOP to any Dream Drive WhatsApp message.
- Or disable “WhatsApp reminders” in Settings → Reminders.
- Or block Dream Drive in WhatsApp itself.
We honour opt-outs immediately. You can re-enable at any time from Settings.
05When we share data
We share personal data only in these limited cases, and only the minimum needed:
- Service providers that run infrastructure for us — hosting (AWS Mumbai region), authentication (Firebase), error tracking (Sentry), and WhatsApp delivery (Meta). Each is bound by data-processing agreements.
- Schools, only if you joined via a school code — and only as aggregated, non-identifying focus data. Individual journal entries are never shared.
- Law enforcement, only on a valid legal order from a competent Indian authority.
- Business transfer, in the unlikely event of a merger or acquisition — you’ll be notified first.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for third-party advertising. We do not feed it into any AI training corpus outside our own product.
06How long we keep it
- Account data: until you delete your account.
- Journal entries & reflections: until you delete them individually, or your account.
- Crash & usage logs: 90 days, then automatically purged.
- WhatsApp delivery logs: 30 days for support and deliverability review.
- Support emails: 12 months, then archived or deleted.
07Your rights
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (and equivalent laws elsewhere), you have the right to:
- Access a copy of your personal data.
- Correct anything that’s wrong.
- Delete your account and all associated data.
- Withdraw consent for optional processing (WhatsApp, analytics).
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf.
- File a grievance with our Data Protection Officer (details below) or the Data Protection Board of India.
All requests: privacy@dreamdrivelabs.com. We respond within 7 working days.
08Children & parents
Dream Drive is designed for students aged 13 and above. If you are under 18, you may use Dream Drive only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who has reviewed this policy. We process children’s data with verifiable parental consent where local law requires it.
If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email privacy@dreamdrivelabs.com and we will remove it within 72 hours.
09Security
We protect your data with TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, role-based access controls, and quarterly third-party security reviews. Future-message audio is end-to-end encrypted — only you can play it back. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your data the way we’d want our own treated.
10Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will notify you inside the app at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated policy. Past versions are available on request.
